October Half Term Activities

 

We’re excited to share details of our October Half Term Holiday Programme, running once again at Manchester Communication Academy (MCA) during the next school break.

The programme will run from 9:30am – 3:00pm each day from Tuesday 28th to Friday 31st October 2025

The programme is open to children currently in Years 3 to 9 (ages 7–14) and includes a free breakfast and lunch each day.

Children will enjoy a variety of fun and enriching activities such as:

  • Arts & crafts
  • Cooking
  • Dance and drama
  • Indoor and outdoor sports
  • Educational activities

This fantastic opportunity is funded by the Government’s HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme, with priority given to children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).

Stop Loan Sharks

The England Illegal Money Lending Team has today launched a new WhatsApp service, giving people who have been targeted by loan sharks in England a new way to access support and report illegal lending.  For more information see the flyer below.

Manchester City Council Cost of Living Advice Line

 

To support Manchester residents through the cost-of-living crisis, Manchester City Council will be providing an advice line that will offer:

  1. Support with benefits and help with your rent (this is an existing offer made available through the contact centre)
  2. Advice about debt and paying bills (this will be done in conjunction with Citizen Advice Manchester)
  3. Food support (residents will receive a call back to understand their needs and connected into a local food offer)
  4. Support getting online (residents will be linked in with the Council’s digital inclusion team)

The advice line will go live at 09.00hrs on 3rd October 2022

By Phone: The advice line can be accessed via a free phone number 0800 023 2692. The line will be open 9:00-4:30 Monday to Friday. Agents on the phone line will have access to language line for those residents whose first language is not English. Sign Video will also be available for residents who may require this facility.

On line: An on line form will be available at https://www.manchester.gov.uk/helpinghands for those who do not wish to contact by phone. The advice line will also have its own web page that will have links to information of how residents are able to access support. https://www.manchester.gov.uk/helpinghands

Communications: A toolkit is being developed with social media assets that can be used to help promote the advice line. This will be available to share in the coming week.

 From September 2022, communications with parents will be sent out via a new app Schoolping.  In order to receive notifications we require an email address for every parent.  Please complete the Google form below.
